Viva Tapas Bar & Grill - Authentic Southern Spanish food in the heart of District 7
Viva Tapas bar and restaurant is an amazing find hidden away in a quiet street in The rather smart area of District 7. The Owner Jeff is a Yorkshire man with a burning passion to bring the food of Southern Spain, where he used to live, to Saigon. That he has completely succeeded is a testament to him and his staff.

Location

Viva is quite easy to find, driving along Nguyen Van Linh from the direction of the Phu My Bridge, turn right into Bui Bang Doan then take the fourth right into Cao Trieu Phat and the restaurant is immediately in your left. It is on the same Street as Harry Casual

Welcome

As soon as I pulled up outside on my bike the door opened and a member of staff told me to simply leave and it would be parked. She then guided us to a table and brought the menus. The staff are friendly and polite and importantly, leave you alone to make your choices. I am not a fan of staff “hovering” over you as you peruse the menu. They got it bang on.

The Atmosphere

The atmosphere is great and exactly what I want from a Tapas bar. It is a nice room, with a good outdoor space as well. The music is perfectly suitable and played at the right volume, to allow guests to talk as they dine. I love this place to be honest.

Food & Drink

The food was fabulous. The extensive menus offers most of my favourites and quite a lot that I had never heard of. We started off with a jug of lovely Sangria as we made our selections. This is easily the best tapas I have had in Asia, the best since leaving Manchester and one of the very best I have had outside Spain. The ingredients were fresh and authentic. Jeff, imports many of his ingredients from Spain, yet still manages to keep prices down to a perfectly suitable level. We ordered five dishes for two people and it was ample. This was excellent and I couldn’t really fault anything except maybe one small criticism; there is not much by way of a sweet selection. It would be great if I could have followed up this excellent meal with a traditional flan or something similar.
