Late on Tuesday Night a 25-year-old man was shot in the head by the Husband of his former girlfriend at an East Pattaya Restaurant, following angry words exchanged between her current and former partner. The shooting occurred at the Natpop Mukatha Restaurant in Soi Sutawat and resulted in the death of Khun Anon, who was shot in his head. Attempts were made to resuscitate him at the scene but he was declared dead moments later.
Khun Wiraya aged 31, the restaurant owner, told Police that the victim came in a group of 5 men and on the next table was the shooter, his wife, and 4 other friends. The former boyfriend exchanged angry words towards his former girlfriend and her Husband which prompted Khun Maetee aged 28, the brother of a Nongprue Police Officer, to shoot him in the head. The suspect gave himself up to Police on Wednesday afternoon and was accompanied by his Wife, Brother and Parents. He surrendered the 38 caliber handgun used in the shooting.
According to his wife, Khun Saradar aged 24, it was a chance encounter that led to the shooting and she revealed that he had been in a relationship with the victim before he was sent to prison for 4 years on drug convictions. She had been married to the shooter for 1 year but had not told the victim of her new relationship.
Police charged Khun Maetee with murder and he is currently on-remand pending Court proceedings.
