This is just a short update regarding the situation in the city centre. With the traffic for both pedestrians and vehicles getting intolerable in and around the construction site of Nguyen Hué, news is coming in that there is hopefully to be some respite, at least for the pedestrians. Apparently they are going to open a couple of pedestrian crossing points in the near future. How this will help local business I am not sure.

It might be a nice gesture for as many people as possible to use some of these business where possible. It would be a real shame to lose them. Small business is the life blood of any major city and Saigon is no different. I think we all realise that the work would cause some disruption, but I for one have certainly been taken by surprise at the enormity of it.

If anyone has any recommendations for good businesses that need support here, please add them in the comments.

yes but you also have to remember, when these renovations are finished- this area will be the much needed pedestrian centre. All visitors to Saigon will be drawn here. For the business owners, as long as they can survive the construction period- this will all be in their greatest favor.
